Focus area: Management
The Programme “Quantitative Finance and Risk Management” (with focus area in Management, MS Degree Course in Management, profile of Quantitative Finance and Risk Management) is a new direction for the MS Degree Course of the Higher School of Finance and Management. We teach all risk management methods available in theory and applicable in practice.
The applicants for the MS Degree Course in Quantitative Finance and Risk Management are required to have a Bachelor’s Degree (diploma of higher education) in risk management, finance, finance management, econometrics, quantitative or computational finance, business informatics, statistics, applied mathematics, etc. Preference is given to applicants with at least two years of experience in analysis and management.
The cource provides the latest courses in finance and financial mathematics. Detailed consideration is given to modern risk assessment measures, such as the project value-at-risk (Value at Risk, VaR), conditional value at risk (Expected Shortfall, ES), the project sensitivity analysis in relation to the most important risk factors, scenario analysis, Monte-Karlo method, etc.
Moreover, the course includes an exclusive risk assessment technology developed in the SHFM, which has not yet been covered by textbooks on corporate finance and risk management, but has been introduced to the risk management subsystem for implementation of projects in many largest Russian companies.
After graduation, the alumni can work as risk managers and financial mathematics.

Following the results of the admission test, the admission score will be set for the MS Degree Course in Economics applicants (Moscow). The Board of the School decided that applicants for full-time study mode who would get a lower score, but will still wish to get higher education and study at the MS Degree programmes at the SHFM, will be provided with a wide range of discounts in accordance with the detailed scale presented in table 1*.
Tuition fee discounts, provided for the MS Degree programmes students on the ground as stated* is valid until the end of the first semester. When the discount expires, these people are entitled to claim for discounts on equal bases on the results of the academic progress or participation in research work.
